Lyrics and, oh, so much more

"Jesus Walks"

Yo, We at war
We at war with terrorism, racism, and most of all we at war with ourselves
(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me) with me with me with me [fades]

You know what the Midwest is?
Young & Restless
Where restless Niggaz might snatch your necklace
And next these Niggaz might jack your Lexus
Somebody tell these Niggaz who Kanye West is
I walk through the valley of the shadow of death is
Top floor the view alone will leave you breathless Uhhhh!
Try to catch it Uhhhh! It's kinda hard hard
Getting choked by the detectives yeah yeah now check the method
They be asking us questions, harass and arrest us
Saying "we eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast"
Huh? Yall eat pieces of shit? What's the basis?
We ain't going nowhere but got suits and cases
A trunk full of coke rental car from Avis
My momma used to say only Jesus can save us
Well momma I know I act a fool
But I'll be gone til November I got packs to move I Hope

[Hook x2]
(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me)
The only thing that that I pray is that me feet don't fail me now
(Jesus Walks)
And I don't think there is nothing I can do now to right my wrongs
(Jesus Walks with me)
I want to talk to God but I'm afraid because we ain't spoke in so long

To the hustlas, killers, murderers, drug dealers even the strippers
(jesus walks with them)
To the victims of Welfare for we living in hell here hell yeah
(jesus walks with them)
Now hear ye hear ye want to see Thee more clearly
I know he hear me when my feet get weary
Cuz we're the almost nearly extinct
We rappers are role models we rap we don't think
I ain't here to argue about his facial features
Or here to convert atheists into believers
I'm just trying to say the way school need teachers
The way Kathie Lee needed Regis that's the way yall need Jesus
So here go my single dog radio needs this
They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus
That means guns, sex, lies, video tapes
But if I talk about God my record won't get played Huh?
Well let this take away from my spins
Which will probably take away from my ends
Then I hope this take away from my sins
And bring the day that I'm dreaming about
Next time I'm in the club everybody screaming out

(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks)
The only thing that that I pray is that me feet don't fail me now

A good portion of this song is just talking about how everyone sins. Jesus walked with everyone, from drug addicts to prostitutes. He wants "to talk to God but [is] afraid because [they haven't] spoke in so long." It's not a good excuse for sinning but he at least realizes what he's doing is wrong and that he needs God, which is the first step to coming back to God. Yeah, he's probably stuck in that spot because of the way society is and probably his own lack of will, but that's not really a reason to hate the guy or think he's any worse of a sinner than any one of us. One drop of black turns white paint into grey, ya know. That's how sin is and a lot of people, especially smug Christians, fail to notice that we're all in that less than perfect, grey area. But that's just what I think.

As far as mathematics goes, many times the math systems that are needed for physics purposes are created quite some time before they are needed. There's no doubt in my mind that certain places in physics, as well as other sciences, could benefit greatly from more studies in the field of mathematics. Just because you don't see the immediate practicality for areas of math, doesn't mean that it's not worth studying at all. I don't mean to sound all "humbled over" but I really don't need the wealth for my work in mathematics. Yeah, I'd like to leave a mark on the math community and possibly create a/some math systems that would benefit all of mankind but if I don't, it's no real loss to me. I know I'll have a job in math, I know that what I do will be to the benefit of those whom I will teach. I have fun with it, I'm helping others learn and grow and it'll pay the bills. I really couldn't ask for a sweeter deal.

This was too long to be a comment so I decided to just post it lol. I'm adding more, don't worry.

I got my black shelves up today. Only a few odd things left for this room now. Two white speaker wall mounts, four silver handles for the drawers by my desk and a black cover for my swivel chair. I tell ya, this room is gonna look perty good when we're done. You'll have to see it again bekah, it's like a whole new house lol.

Work's going pretty slow lately. Long heavy volume nights... and it's not even peek season yet. UGH! Ah well. Hopefully, I'll be gone in about 21 months. If not, I guess I'll survive.

I think that's about it. Not too much to report.

Until I post again (might be a while),
Mr. Brown (Props to Michelle's g-pa for that one)

It's a good song. It's nice that there is a song talking about Jesus that comes from someone respected already in the music relm and who isn't known for songs about Jesus that is actually putting a song like that out there. It shows that anyone can be passionate about Jesus, even people you least expect.

As long as you enjoying what you are doing as far as math, that is the real payoff. Someone I used to go to school with told me, "Money is only pieces of paper that the government says has value."

Sounds like your room is really changing. Change is good sometimes. Hope you're liking it. Sounds like you are though.

Are you quitting UPS when you're done with getting your bachelors at Parkside? I guess that would sort of make sense.

Ah the joys of greyscale LOL Black n White rocks man. Here's an idea from an artist's point of view that would make your room awesome(er). Pick one thing in your room that's important to you, something you like and would like attention drawn to. (maybe your bed of a really comfortable chair) or something like that and when you have everything in there black, white or grey have that one thing like bright red. It would just jump out like you wouldnt believe and make your room look even sweeter because of the artistic break in continuity. Just a thought. As for the money from math thing, I was just of the mind that it'd be awesome if you applied math to something and got loaded off it then didnt have to worry about work. You could do the professor gig and not have to worry about the pay from it. You could focus purely on the teaching and betterment of your craft without the stress of money. Just another thought. As for UPS? Yeah, it blows. Nuff said on that. And for the song, I was gonna say something about the fact that the guy swears and uses "niggaz" in a song supposedly about Jesus or something glorifying him at least but I know I swear too. I dunno, I guess its just the fact that the swearing and whatnot was IN the song glorifying christ or the fact that we need him. He got the right message out (or was trying to at least) and that, I applaud. Incidentally, theres a new move comming out starring Jason Statham (He played Turkish in "Snatch"), I saw the preview when I saw Dukes of Hazzard with Crystal, and the Theme song (or the song that was played over the preview at least) was "The Slam" by TobyMac which I thought was unbelievably cool. Anyway, this just got way long. ttyl.
